Rapids Family Health Team is seeking an enthusiastic, professional Psychologist with excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team of healthcare professionals to manage the needs of patients. Our mental health team is committed to providing evidence-based services in a professional and respectful environment.
Rapids Family Health Team is a support system of many allied health professionals designed to work with family physicians to provide patients with the highest possible quality of care. Locally our Nurse Educators and Dietitians provide patients with programs for managing diabetes, high cholesterol, obesity, COPD and how to stop smoking. Psychologists and Master Social Workers help patients manage depression, anxiety and stress. Our Chiropodist helps with foot ailments and Nurse Practitioners provide episodic care and more. Every employee on our team is valuable and contributes to the success of our offices in Sarnia and the surrounding area.
Qualifications & Skills:
 Doctoral level degree in Clinical Psychology (Ph.D.) from a recognized University.
 Current registration with the College of Psychologists of Ontario.
 Possess an understanding of the Psychology Act, Mental Health Act, Healthcare Consent Act, Substitute Decisions Act, Regulated Health Professionals Act and community mental health resources.
 Experience as a Psychologist working with patients and families on a multi-disciplinary team of healthcare professionals providing counselling / psychotherapy.
 Knowledge and proficiency in understanding of mental health care and chronic disease management.
 Experience in psychological evaluation, diagnosis, assessment and psychotherapeutic treatment for individuals, adults and seniors, adolescents and children, families and couples.
 Experience in disability, workers’ compensation and psychological evaluations for medical, legal and insurance purposes.
 Ability to provide education about psychological and behavioral matters not only to the team but to patients in an overall preventative and population-based perspective.
 Efficient computer skills, working knowledge of electronic medical records (Practice Solutions preferred).
 Clinical experience working collaboratively with a community-based agency preferable.
 Superior leadership, organization, research, evaluation, problem-solving, decision-making, clinical and interpersonal skills.
